Why study in Dubai?
Dubai is an emerging international university destination, attracting students and academics from around the world and offering a range of high-quality courses in a stimulating environment. For an international student, it offers much more than a modern campus and a modern lifestyle.
1. International degrees without relocating far from home
Dubai hosts branch campuses of Australian, Canadian, USA, and UK universities, alongside UAE's own universities and Indian-origin campuses. You get an internationally recognised degree with a flight home under four hours.
2. Lower price tag for some students
Popular Courses in Dubai offer significant value for money compared with courses in the UK, US, Canada or Australia. Particularly when you include the cost of accommodation and flights. So you should shortlist your options and compare the total course costs.
3. Part-time work opportunities
If you have the right visa, you may be permitted to take up part-time employment in the Emirates, which is an additional benefit not always available to students studying abroad. You should check with the MoHRE and your university regarding any restrictions on part-time work.
4. No personal income tax
Individual income is completely tax-free in the UAE. If you plan to work in the region after graduating, this affects your take-home pay directly.
5. A path to longer-term residence
Outstanding graduates may qualify for a UAE Golden Visa of up to 10 years. More on the exact criteria further down this page.
6. No proof-of-funds required for your visa
Unlike several other study destinations, UAE universities generally don't require you to show proof of funds for the student visa, and a visa refusal from another country doesn't affect your UAE application.

How to get a Dubai Student Visa?
To secure your Dubai student visa, simply coordinate with your university; they take care of the application for you. They will file most of the paperwork for your Dubai student visa. This is how it works:
- Receive your unconditional offer from a licensed university
- Your university applies for your entry permit
- You travel to the UAE once your entry permit is issued
- Your entry permit (eVisa) is typically processed within 7-10 days and grants a 45-60-day validity period.
- Mandatory blood test and chest X-ray at an approved center
- Biometrics and Emirates ID processing: Processing of residence visa with a stamp of approval that is usually valid for one year and can be renewed every year while on the program.
- The attestation process by the UAE Ministry of Education (mandatory for Indian degrees and usually costing between INR 12,000-15,000) should be completed before or upon arrival in the UAE to get the programme approval, and it is known as Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications Issued Outside the UAE-Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dubai visa costs
- The visa package usually costs AED 8,000-9,000.
- In addition, most universities require a deposit for issuing an admission confirmation. This starts from AED 3,000 (INR 80,000) and above.
- Most universities ask for only 25 percent of the first-year tuition fees as the down payment. The rest, you can pay in installments.
- In some universities, you can also get an early enrollment discount of up to AED 10,000.
What Documents Are Required for a Dubai Student Visa?
