Some universities accept your prior learning in English as an alternative to IELTS. Others will accept alternative test scores like the TOEFL iBT or PTE Academic. As you will be enrolling in programs taught in English, you will need to prove your English ability to qualify for admission.

Ireland is home to some of Europe’s oldest and best universities, including Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. This country may be small, but it is a powerhouse – it is currently the European Union’s fastest growing economy. To align with this growth, Irish universities also ensure their programs are industry-focused. With hands-on practical experience baked into your programs, you are career-ready as soon as you graduate.

Yes – while holding the Stamp 2 permission, international students can work part-time in Ireland. There is a 20-hour cap on working hours per week during semester time. You can, however, work full-time during breaks.

This depends on a variety of factors, including which university, program, location, study level, etc. you want to study in. For example, an undergraduate degree at University College Dublin could range between €16,800 to €25,600. At Dublin City University, this range is slightly lower, at €12,600 to €18,000.

We recommend starting your admissions process as early as one year to minimum six months before your target intake.

Dublin is Ireland’s top student city, followed by Cork, Maynooth, Galway, and Limerick.

Some of Ireland’s most popular programs include:
  • Business Studies
  • Actuarial Science
  • Nursing
  • Computer Science
  • Communications
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Studies
  • Architecture
  • Performance Arts
  • Languages
  • Culinary Arts
  • Education
  • Art & Design
  • Physiotherapy

Ireland typically has two main intakes: January (Winter) and September (Autumn/Fall).

Generally, at all study levels you may need to submit English proficiency test scores. The IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, and PTE Academic are all widely accepted.

At postgraduate level, you may need to submit GMAT or GRE scores depending on the program.

According to QS World University Rankings 2024, the following are Ireland’s top 5 universities:
  • Trinity College Dublin
  • University College Dublin
  • University of Galway
  • University College Cork
  • University of Limerick
